The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Everyday Beauty
Whether you’re too busy (or just a little lazy) we’ve got some tips on how you can be your best self everyday–without the extra prep time in the morning.

I admire women who look impeccably put together every day of the week. You know who I’m talking about. They’re the ones with the perfectly lined lips that somehow never smudge. They’re the ones whose hair look a little extra shiny and bouncy when they move. The ones with the patience to do a perfect cat eye everyday. In other words, they’re the total opposite of the lazy girl beauty regimen that I have decidedly subscribed to.
As much as I love makeup, blowouts and beauty tutorials, I am an advocate of an easy routine. That’s half the reason I’m such a skincare advocate–the appeal of being able to walk out the house without a smidge of makeup is worth the investment on creams and serums. Besides, I really just don’t have the time (or the energy).
Thankfully, being a fan of lazy girl beauty doesn’t mean you have to walk around looking like you just rolled out of bed. My pursuit of the mostly effortless has introduced me to beauty hacks that go a long way in sprucing up your appearance. Trust me–these are some of the things you need to cut your prep time in the morning, and look good anyway.
YUMI Lashes by Winked
There’s no denying the impact that long, defined lashes have on your face. It’s really all you need to get that extra oomph for your everyday look. Thankfully, you don’t have to resort to wearing false eyelashes everyday. (Although the women who do definitely deserve recognition–I can barely put them on myself!)
Having studied the craft in Hong Kong, Mikee Li Bi has been giving girls the gift of better lashes since she opened Winked last year. The gentle procedure lasts about an hour and a half, and uses a silicone pad and a series of treatments. Lashes are treated so they turn naturally upward, and a tint is also applied to create more volume. “We also include an eye treatment during the procedure, to brighten the under-eye area,” she explains.
After-care is as simple as brushing your lashes upward everyday, and taking care not to rub your eyes (which you shouldn’t be doing anyway!). The upside–your eyes look bigger and brighter, even without mascara.

Lived-in Hair Color by Piandre
Every girl knows that walking out of the salon with freshly colored hair is one of the best feelings in the world. What’s not that great, though, is having to run back whenever your darker roots start making an appearance.
I’ve been known to let my hair grow out until a very clear demarcation line between my natural and artificial hair color runs from one ear to the other. (It’s hard to find the time to squeeze in an hours-long salon visit!) Thankfully, Piandre introduced Lived-in Hair Color, and I have not looked back. Six months later, and my hair color still looks like it was deliberately styled.
Trained top Australian stylists Edwards and Co., the staff at Piandre try to mimic how sunlight naturally brightens your hair. Think of it as a more subtle take on ombre–the lighter color is concentrated towards and the ends and around the face, with the roots noticeably darker. It’s a sun-kissed look that’s perfect for the summer (or in the case of Cebu’s always balmy weather, all year long).
Oakridge Business Park, AS Fortuna Street, Banilad, Mandaue City
Open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Mondays to Saturdays, and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sundays.
For inquiries and reservations, call +63 32 412 1824.
Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm from Clinique
Sometimes, all you really need to look good is a pop of color on your cheeks. Thankfully, I live in a tropical country, where sun exposure is practically a given (and sunblock is so important). Most of the time, I can count on that subtle tint on my cheekbones from where the sun hits my face.
Some days, though, you need a little boost. There are a number of great blush options out there–but Clinique’s Chubby Stick is one of my favorites. It’s easy to use, and the Robust Rhubarb is great on Filipino skin. On weekends when I don’t even bother with foundation, a quick swipe of color instantly adds warmth to a tired face.
It can be multi-purpose too–I also use it on my lips, when I want a more subtle, natural color.
Available at Rustan’s, Ayala Center Cebu; Robinsons Galleria; and SM Seaside City.
DKNY Nectar Love
A nice scent goes a long way in making you feel put together, and these days, I’ve been spritzing on DKNY’s Nectar Love in the morning. It brings to mind the freshness of spring, with its mix of citrus and floral scents. The subtle fragrance gives me a great energy when I’m facing a long, busy day. Its cute packaging–the embossed gilded bee on top of a reimagined DKNY apple–makes me smile when I see it in my bag too.
Available at Rustan’s, Ayala Center Cebu.

The Lowdown on IV Drips–Dr. Victoria Jordan Sarmiento Opens Krowne Premiere Medical Aesthetics to Promote Overall Well-being

By Mia Durano
The thriving metropolis of Cebu City is no stranger to “the hustle” — the pace, the projects and deadlines, and the constant pull to be on. Everyone is looking to stay sharp, recover quickly, and feel their best — fast. IV drip therapy has become one way to combat the ill effects of stress by supporting the body from within, in a way that is both restorative and efficient.

The interior design of the clinic by Doro Barandino has clean modernist lines.
IV drips have become a go-to for recovery, post-travel support during high-stress seasons (this writer recommends it for wedding parties and other heavy social gatherings), or simply as a way to keep the immune system and energy levels on point. It’s a ritual not rooted in vanity, but in vitality — feeling invigorated to lead a more productive life.

Dr Victoria Jordan -Sarmiento personally handling the treatment to Margette Garcia-Sarmiento.
Currently, one quiet name is setting a higher bar for this treatment. At Krowne Premiere Medical Aesthetics, the approach is personal, clinical, and calm. Medically assisted in every sense, each treatment formula is tailored with care and precision. No frills, no guesswork — just real, science-backed support for your body’s needs.
Generally, IV drip therapy is often recommended for rehydration, nutrient replacement, and correcting electrolyte imbalances. The science is straightforward: by pushing vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants directly into the bloodstream, the body absorbs exactly what it needs — without the delays of digestion. The results are quick and visible. Energy revives. Focus sharpens. Skin glows.

The able team of doctors of Krowne Premiere, from left to right: Dr. Charles Chloe Parilla, Dr. Jodelle Irish Gamotin, Dr. Victoria Jordan-Sarmiento, and Dr. Jeazon Mark Cansing.
Dr. Victoria Jordan Sarmiento sums it up: “At Krowne, we focus on safe and effective treatments. IV drip therapy is a practical way to support hydration, boost energy, and strengthen immunity — especially for people with busy lifestyles. It’s a simple addition to your routine that can make a real difference.”
Krowne Premiere is located at the ground floor of JEG Tower, Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Acacia Street, Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City.

Drench Your Skin in Bespoke French Facials at Beaute Affair Luxe

Bespoke French Facials at Beaute Affair Luxe
By Kara Mae Noveda
When it comes to skincare treatments, one size does not necessarily fit all, shared Dr. Gwen Bagay-Matias, the resident dermatologist of Beaute Affair Luxe. This is why Dr. Matias, a dermatologist of 15 years, would begin a client visit with one-on-one face time. A consultation gives the dermatologist or specially-trained aesthetician the opportunity to listen to the concerns and take a closer look at a person wanting to indulge in some skin pampering.
Such a targeted approach in aesthetics is attuned with the skincare philosophy of the 40-year-old French brand, Biologique Recherche. This brand has developed an exclusive, customized methodology of cosmetic treatments and products which aim to address each kind of skin’s unique needs. And Beaute Affair Luxe deservedly boasts of being the first and only accredited center of Biologique Recherche treatments and products in Cebu.
Very much like the French fashion’s affinity for the classics—a facial with Biologique Recherche products is unlike every other trendy treatment that will shortly fade into passé. The brand’s methods and products are meant to be tailored after your skin’s age, texture, and of course, your own expectations over time. In other words, this skincare line is not just a one-time affair, but meant to marry into your lifestyle. After all, any expert will tell you—good skin is not just something one is born with, but it is something that can be built from curated habits and products. Your monthly facial (twice a month, if you are acne-prone, recommends Beaute Affair Luxe’s Dr. Matias) helps keep your delicate facial skin fresh and healthy.
What can one expect from a Biologique Recherche session? The brand observes three main skincare protocols: 1) Assessment stage (the aesthetician carries a thorough dermo-cosmetic diagnostic to narrow down to your treatment option); 2) Initialization stage (the aesthetician preps the epidermis—skin is rigorously cleansed, before lotion and face mask are applied) and; 3) Actual Treatment stage (the aesthetician incorporates products with the highest concentration of active ingredients, this helps the top layer of the skin be primed for self-regeneration). To conclude, a relaxing one-hour session well-spent on yourself.
During the session, Beaute Affair Luxe’s aesthetician expertly proceeded with gentle hands—massaging luxe organic products generously on the face and neck. It is good to be reminded that organic products are free from synthetic fragrance and give off a naturally herby aroma (be assured though that organic products are kinder to the skin). If there is one thing that’s apparent throughout the session: the Biologique Recherche facial is refreshingly void of any prickly or stinging sensation! No pain, only gain, with this non-invasive procedure. All in all, a truly satisfying experience we owe our skin and ourselves. After all, our face is the mirror of our well-being and the image we project into the world—let us give it the discerning care it deserves.
Book a session in Beaute Affair Luxe to see the difference thoughtful skincare brings. The clinic is located on the second level of The Space, A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City, Cebu and operates from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., from Tuesday to Sunday.

What Makes Your Coffee Truly ‘Guilt-Free’? Let’s Delve Into the Details.

Coffee, for most people, is an essential drink to kickstart or fuel up their day. There are probably more coffee lovers around the world compared to those who can’t tolerate this popular beverage. According to webmd.com, coffee is a drink made from coffee beans, which are the roasted fruit of the Coffea Arabica bush. People most commonly drink coffee to relieve mental and physical fatigue and to increase mental alertness.
Although coffee has gotten some bad raps due to the side effects of its main active ingredient ‘caffeine’, which is a stimulant, it is believed the good side of it weighs more than the bad. Of course, everything boils down into not having too much of this beloved drink. ‘Drink moderately’, as the popular tagline goes.
According to Aaron Carroll, a professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine and health research blogger at The Incidental Economist, is taking a stand in a recent New York Times article: “It’s way past time that we stopped viewing coffee as something we all need to cut back on,” he writes. “It’s a completely reasonable addition to a healthy diet, with more potential benefits seen in research than almost any other beverage we’re consuming. It’s time we started treating it as such.”
Well, not all coffee are created equal. Some are carefully formulated so that you will be able to enjoy without the worry. So, what makes your coffee truly ‘guilt-free’? Aside from great taste, we are eyeing two important factors:
- It must be sugar-free. We’re all quite familiar on how too much sugar intake wreaks havoc not only to our inner health but also to our outside appearance. It can lead to some serious health problems like obesity and diabetes, not to mention how it destroys the natural collagen in our skin that is responsible in making us look young and wrinkle-free. Certain drinks opt for natural sweeteners like stevia, which is a healthier option.
- It must have benefits for both beauty and wellness. A lot of brands around the world has concocted unique formulations to amp up the benefits of coffee in terms of beauty and health. Natural and organic ingredients were used to provide benefits to the skin hair and nails and to the overall physical fitness of the human body. Most of these added natural ingredients contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to fight oxidative stress and provide boosted energy levels. Some of these claim to have therapeutic benefits and may help alleviate some health conditions.
