The festival will also feature local Cebuano acts such as Cookie$, The Sundown, Mandaue Nights, Three Legged Men, and Wonggoys.

Careless’ CEO, Jeffrey Oh, says “We’re really excited to do Wavy Baby in Sinulog because it’s the biggest and most historic festival in the Philippines. We want to build a festival that brings the best of the Philippines and the world together to meet and celebrate life and culture, which is what Sinulog is all about. We call it Wavy Baby because we want a wavy lifestyle and a wavy mindset. It also pays homage to Sinulog because the Sinulog symbols are water and the baby Jesus so it’s also a nod to that as well. We’re excited to be part of the Cebu family and build something special that hopefully we can repeat year after year.”

The festival itself will be held at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City, Cebu. There will be an Artist Lounge, VVIP Lounge, a VIP Area in front of the stage, Cocktail Pods, Sponsor’s Hives, and Market Pod.

The Cocktail Pod serves as an area for anyone to purchase drinks at the venue while the Market Pod is designated for food and other merchandise that will be sold. The Sponsor’s Hive will be where Wavy Baby’s brand partners will have different booths that festival goers can visit.

Regular Tickets are priced at Php 8,510 for VIP and Php 4,260 for General Admission. One-day Passes are also now available at Php 5,540 for VIP and Php 2770 for General Admission.

22 Tango Records Celebrates 9 Years with Roll-Out https://zee.ph/22tango-roll-out/ Mon, 25 Mar 2019 10:04:04 +0000 http://zee.ph/?p=27527 22 Tango Records celebrates its 9th year of producing and releasing quality local
music by hosting an anniversary event on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Draft Punk, Mango Square. “Roll-Out” will feature live acts from a carefully curated list of artists signed under the label.

Performing on stage will be Wonggoys, Bethany, Vincent Eco, Lourdes Maglinte, The Labrats, and Mother Folker (aka Cattski).

Along with this grand celebration will be the unveiling of 22 Tango Records’ new website, with updated features, music articles, events calendar, lots of music and valuable content not just about the label but also about the local music scene.

“As much as I feel like there’s reasons to celebrate, I feel like there’s still so much work to do.” Cattski expressed, when asked about their anniversary celebration. “We still have a long way to go. But, looking back, I’m proud of what we’ve done. We’ve explored the different aspects in the music business – from music creation, promotion, education, distribution, publishing and production – all in the hopes that we’ll ultimately co-create a sustainable local music industry.”

22 Tango Records has given opportunities for artistic growth and development for all their artists in the span of 9 years, training and guiding them to become better at their craft. The label plans to keep giving its support by continuously creating events designed to cater to different genres and music listeners, giving each a unique brand and working hard to keep it consistent.

“I believe in our potential.” Cattski says, “I think to have our own hyper local music industry is something that we strive for. We want the future to have thriving musicians capable and empowered to work for their music using the latest technology, communication means and with a supportive community”.

Chief Finance Officer and Co-founder Anne Muntuerto also shares her thoughts about 22 Tango Records advancing into bigger, more eventful years.

“I’m so proud of how 22 Tango Records has made a mark in the Cebu music scene no matter how small it may seem in the last 9 years,” she says. “We have been extremely lucky to be supported and surrounded by people who believe in our advocacy— our dedicated street team members, artists, brands and companies who have supported us, and 22T’s loyal listeners and followers. It takes a village. And it’s this tribe that inspires us to keep going.”

Catch Roll-Out on March 30th, Saturday, in Draft Punk, Mango Square. Music starts at 8PM with a door fee of P150, inclusive of one free drink.

The Wonggoys Are Back With a New Bisaya Song, “Wa’y Blema” https://zee.ph/wonggoys-bisaya-song/ https://zee.ph/wonggoys-bisaya-song/#comments Fri, 09 Mar 2018 04:05:18 +0000 http://res210.servconfig.com/~zee/?p=22022

When it comes to homegrown talent, Cebu never runs out. Ask anyone living in Cebu, and I’m sure they can easily drop names of a couple of local acts. And those familiar with the music scene are bound to have heard of the Wonggoys.

The Wonggoys began with singing cover songs in harmony at home and progressed to a trip to the recording stud. After four months of writing and recording, their efforts paid off with an album.

The band of brothers–namely Gabe, Bill and Kyle Wong–are known for their easygoing sound. They released their first album I’m Not Sure What To Say But I’ll Say It Anyway in 2010, their songs constantly on the airwaves. Several live performances and one more album later, they’ve garnered a considerable following.

It’s interesting to note that the Wonggoys haven’t released a song in Bisaya—not until this March, anyway. The trio, after some encouragement, decided, why not? And that’s how they came up with Wa’y Blema (“No Problem” in English), their first-ever track to be sung in Bisaya.

“We were told that if we released a Bisaya song, it would be a hit,” joked Gabe Wong, the eldest of the brothers.

Wa’y Blema sings of having no worries as long as they’re together. From grabbing breakfast to having coffee at Starbucks, the song is light-hearted and focuses on enjoying the good things.

Spreading The Love With 22 Tango Records https://zee.ph/spreading-love-22-tango-records/ https://zee.ph/spreading-love-22-tango-records/#comments Mon, 19 Feb 2018 06:40:10 +0000 http://res210.servconfig.com/~zee/?p=21686 What’s better than spreading the love in the air?

Spreading it through the sound of music! Last Saturday, Ayala Center Cebu and 22 Tango Records showed their love for their fellow Cebuanos by holding another community music fest at the Terraces for free.

Mandaue Nights

Aya’Love (I love how they played with the words here) was filled with people who are die-hard fans of the artists that performed. Some of them were fresh audience who just happened to overhear the music playing in the venue.

J Russ and DT performing ‘Drunk Feeling’

Music started playing at around 6pm with the beautiful voice of Lourdes Maglinte as she opens the concert. From then on, the music echoed all across the Terraces which I’m sure made everyone’s night a little more colorful.

Other artists that performed last Saturday include Wonggoys, Groovematics, Bethany, Loop, Sepia Times, Mandaue Nights, Mary Anchit,, J Russ X DT and Vincent Eco.

“I came here for Loop. Their song Lost just relates to me and I bet to a whole lot of people,” says Theresa, one of the people who attended the music fest, “I like the fact that this is free. I enjoyed all the line up of artists. Everything about this event is perfect.”

The artists’ music and performance revolved not just between two people falling in love, but some were dedicated to one’s family or friends– which everybody can relate too.
