On February 16, 2019, join the Advanced Audio Mixing Master Class with Jad Bantug at the Room Eleven Recording Studio.
Jad Bantug is a music producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and recording/mixing engineer. He owns and operates 1032 studios in Cebu City, Philippines, and mixes at Private Ear Recording in Canada where he is currently based.
His works are diverse – ranging from pop, folk, indie and electronic to alternative, blues, rock and heavy metal. He also works on musicals both local and international and does a lot of composition and music production work for radio and TV commercials, films and game audio. In Visayas, he is known for his “sound” and production work on the VISPOP catalog, which sparked a music movement and a renaissance of Bisaya music.
This workshop will teach you how to achieve release-quality mixes on a budget within a typical small-studio environment by applying advanced techniques. The information here is “platform-neutral” and you can make use of it whether you’re on ProTools, Sonar, LogicPro, Reaper or Reason.
The early bird participation fee is Php 1,800 per person and will be valid until February 5, regular rate of Php 2,000 will apply afterwards. There were big shoes to fill after Hans Hauri departed his post as the hotel’s Area General Manager in December 2014, yet Julie Najar, with knowledge and skills acquired from her 30 years of working in the hospitality industry, is a more-than-competent successor to watch out for.

Najar graduated with a Hotel and Restaurant Management degree in St. Paul College, Quezon City Philippines, with further training in various fields of hospitality at the Cornell University in New York and the Cornell-Nanyang Instutute of Hospitality Management in Singapore.
She worked for a handful of hotels and resorts in Singapore, Manila and Cebu before joining the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, where she rose through the ranks. A long-serving employee of the hotel, she started out as a Front Office Manager in 2005 and became HR Manager after two years. In 2009, she became the Resident Manager, and subsequently in 2013, the Hotel Manager.

A diverse leader, Najar is also actively involved in other organizations, serving as the new President of the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu (HRRAC) and as the Assistant Secretary to the Tourism Congress of the Philippines, a private sector consultative body mandated to assist the government in the development, implementation and coordination of the Philippine tourism policy.

A view of Cebu from Tops
Out of all the places in Cebu, I would probably say that Tops is my all-time favorite spot. This place is not only romantic, but it is extremely overwhelming and relaxing as well. If you simply want to wander off and be somewhere out of the city, this would be the perfect spot. Not only do you get the cool refreshing wind sensation tingling down your spine, but you also get a breathtaking view of the city. The most ideal time to go here would be at night, where the area transforms into a real life planetarium. There were times in the past that I was even able to witness a meteor shower. Tops truly is an amazing spot worth visiting, taking into consideration that is just 30 minutes away from the city. Tops in one word is breathtaking.

SHANGRI-LA’S COWRIE COVE BEACH FRONT
Cowrie Cove
Another favorite spot to hang out in a “chill” atmosphere would be the cowrie cove beach front. This is an ideal place to watch the sunset with your favorite people in the world. I’ve done this a lot and the feeling is fulfilling every time. Moreover, you get to enjoy their delicious cocktails and quick bites and you can have fun frolicking in the sand ’til night time.

OSLOB

For nature lovers like me, Oslob is one of the spots I truly enjoy. In Oslob, I was able to experience swimming with the world’s largest fish. It is quite a remarkable experience for people who enjoy long drives and a mix of adventure. The icing on the cake would probably be the unforgettable whale shark or “butanding” in the local dialect.
