For this year’s show entitled ‘Bling It On’, Cary Santiago came back for the second time with an exclusive collection called Pacifique which were worn by male and female pageant winners and title holders, including: Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Santiago and Mr. World Philippines 2016 Sam Ajdani. A few of Cebu’s very own were also present, including Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 Kris Janson and Miss Cebu 2015 Wynonah Buot, along with the face of the campaign, Miss Cebu 2016 Raine Baljak.
The show featured local personalities including young entrepreneurs, Cebu’s most creative set, as well as social media sensations, Medyo Maldito and Snake Princess. This year, Islands Souvenirs also collaborated with ANTHILL Fabric Gallery, a social enterprise which supports Filipino weaving communities with their pieces.
Adorable 2-8 year olds also modeled shirts specially designed for the show by internationally-renowned creative studio Happy Garaje.

]]>Zee Lifestyle, Cebu’s premier lifestyle bible, kicked off its 20th anniversary celebration with a weekend getaway at the Be Grand Resort in Panglao, Bohol. Dubbed the Bohol Break, the weekend began with the two journey to Bohol on board Supercat Ferry’s Business Class. On Saturday morning, VIPs were treated to a light breakfast of cucumber sandwiches and ensaimada, paired with their choice of either coffee, juices, and—in Butch Carungay’s case—wine. Zee Lifestyle‘s resident makeup artist Romero Vergara took it upon himself to serve the guests, much to the amusement of everyone. And spotted in one corner, interior designer Holly Dychangco entertained some people with tarot card readings.
With great food, fun music and the company of Cebu’s most fun people, the boat party set the tone for the weekend ahead.

]]>Born in Northern Italy, Gianni, father to Gianluca and grandfather to Giorgia, Matteo, and Paolo, moved to the Philippines in the late 1970’s, fell in love with the country, and never left. All throughout Gianni’s life in the Philippines, Gianluca shared that despite the number of Italian restaurants in town, his father always preferred home cooking from their very own kitchen.
Time caught up with the food-loving Gianni, and he passed away last year, leaving two of his helpers, Antonia and Jean, with no one to attend to any longer. Since then, the idea of putting up a family restaurant has always hung over the head of Gianluca. As a result, Trattoria da Gianni was created. The fruition of the restaurant gives Antonia and Jean something to take care of now that their beloved Gianni is gone. It’s also the family’s way of thanking the two women who have served them for more than two decades.
Trattoria da Gianni, which translates to “a small Italian restaurant by Gianni,” is casual and unpretentious. All the love that goes into the restaurant doesn’t only reflect in their food, but it extends to their cozy and inviting interiors as well, giving you the warm-hearted welcome you’d get at an Italian friend’s home. As a family restaurant, Trattoria da Gianni serves the best of Italian home cooking with time-honored recipes right from the Guidicellis’ kitchen.
One thing that sets Trattoria da Gianni apart is that instead of pizzas, they have a wide variety of bruschettas. With toppings ranging from Parma ham with figs and fresh ricotta, to Taleggio cheese with apricots, the Guidicellis make the Italian staple more exciting than usual.
Diners can also expect freshly made pastas with homemade sauces for that personal touch, different kinds of mouthwatering mozzarellas, a variety of fresh salads, traditional Italian cold cuts and cured meats, premium Italian cheeses, hearty soups, and of course, delectable desserts. The menu also indicates which dishes were Gianni’s personal favorites. Mugnâ, a Cebuano word that means “to create”, is a fitting term for the extravaganza of flourishing local talent. The event featured signature pieces by designers from the Fashion Council of Cebu and the introduction of Lobby Lounge’s Chocolate High Tea, a treasure box of goodies made in partnership with homegrown chocolatier, The Chocolate Chamber.
Guests had a fabulous afternoon as they witnessed piece after piece of chic Cebuano couture made by renowned names in the industry: OJ Hofer, Yvonne Quisumbing, Albert Arriba, Mia Arcenas, Edwin Ao, Jun Escario, Arcy Gayatin, Philipp Tampus and Philip Rodriguez.
The afternoon flair was complemented with bites of the Chocolate High Tea selection that consists of White Chocolate Crème, Chicken Inasal, Spiced Chocolate, Tablea Crème Brûlée, Beef Tablea and Flourless Tablea Cake, which was served with a pot of premium tea.
The more adventurous chocolate aficionados meanwhile had the option of indulging in signature cacao-infused martinis, made in partnership with Grey Goose Vodka. The line-up includes the Classic Dark Chocolate, White Chocolate, Orange Chocolate, Chili Choco, Mint Choco, Choco Bomb Shot and Warm Orange Cognac Sikwate.

Mugnâ was a celebration of firsts, as it was the launch of Lobby Lounge’s Chocolate High Tea and signature martinis which are now available daily. Moreover it was the premiere of the monthly fashion shows in which two of the participating designers will present collections exclusively made for the resort. The couture pieces will be on display at the resort’s Events Center and the entire season will culminate with a grand finale on Aug. 31, 2016.
