music by hosting an anniversary event on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Draft Punk, Mango Square. “Roll-Out” will feature live acts from a carefully curated list of artists signed under the label.
Performing on stage will be Wonggoys, Bethany, Vincent Eco, Lourdes Maglinte, The Labrats, and Mother Folker (aka Cattski).
Along with this grand celebration will be the unveiling of 22 Tango Records’ new website, with updated features, music articles, events calendar, lots of music and valuable content not just about the label but also about the local music scene.
“As much as I feel like there’s reasons to celebrate, I feel like there’s still so much work to do.” Cattski expressed, when asked about their anniversary celebration. “We still have a long way to go. But, looking back, I’m proud of what we’ve done. We’ve explored the different aspects in the music business – from music creation, promotion, education, distribution, publishing and production – all in the hopes that we’ll ultimately co-create a sustainable local music industry.”
22 Tango Records has given opportunities for artistic growth and development for all their artists in the span of 9 years, training and guiding them to become better at their craft. The label plans to keep giving its support by continuously creating events designed to cater to different genres and music listeners, giving each a unique brand and working hard to keep it consistent.
“I believe in our potential.” Cattski says, “I think to have our own hyper local music industry is something that we strive for. We want the future to have thriving musicians capable and empowered to work for their music using the latest technology, communication means and with a supportive community”.
Chief Finance Officer and Co-founder Anne Muntuerto also shares her thoughts about 22 Tango Records advancing into bigger, more eventful years.
“I’m so proud of how 22 Tango Records has made a mark in the Cebu music scene no matter how small it may seem in the last 9 years,” she says. “We have been extremely lucky to be supported and surrounded by people who believe in our advocacy— our dedicated street team members, artists, brands and companies who have supported us, and 22T’s loyal listeners and followers. It takes a village. And it’s this tribe that inspires us to keep going.”

]]>Six years after their first album, I’m Not Sure What To Say But I’ll Say It Anyway, Gabe, Bill, and Kyle Wong are back with new material that’s a departure from the acoustic guitar-driven sound of their previous album, as they showcase a more experimental sound. Still under record label 22 Tango Records, High Hello contains nine new tracks, including the recently released single Weekend, which is now available on iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon.
Fondly calling themselves The Wonggoys, a playful take on their surname and how their mother used to call them when they were little (“unggoys”, “monkeys” in English), Gabe, Bill, and Kyle landed their first gig back in 2008, at Alejandro’s. Encouragement from friend Jude Bacalso eventually led the brothers to have their own album in 2010, which then paved the way for opening the Jonas Brothers concert in Cebu back in 2012. “I think they just wanted us because we’re brothers in a band, too,” joked rhythm guitarist Kyle in a 2013 Zee Lifestyle feature.

In the same feature, it was revealed that production on their sophomore album began as early as three years ago, while Kyle and lead guitarist Bill were home from studying abroad. “Our next album will show how we’ve matured as musicians, and have better songwriting.” Bill said back then. “We’ve definitely broken through our comfort zone and explored other sounds and genres.”
High Hello‘s launch party will be on January 7, 2017 at The Greenery. Homegrown acts Lourdes Maglinte, Vincent Eco, Honeydrop and Bethany will also be playing at the event.

Singer-songwriter Vincent Eco performs at The Listening Room
It’s a one-day music conference and workshop designed for the Cebuano music creator. It aims to gather songwriters/composers, singer-songwriters, bands, music producers, sound engineers, instrumentalists and music advocates alike for valuable conversations, tips and talks about working and being involved in the music community.
Before speaking of new trends and platforms in the music industry, it’s best to look within and focus on the individual artist. We start with encouraging each artist to be culturally and professionally aware and inspiring them to have a pro-active entrepreneurial spirit.
The summit will include carefully curated sessions that range from songwriting to music merchandising, crowdfunding for music and the visual side of an indie artist — sessions that discuss practical and action-oriented ideas that can be incorporated in live performances, music production and promotion. It’s that time of the year again when the vaginas are coming… to Cebu, that is. Production company 2tincans Philippines, Inc. has been granted the rights for a V-Day Cebu presentation of The Vagina Monologues to raise money and awareness for local organizations that work to stop violence against women and girls.
The award-winning play is based on V-Day founder and playwright Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women. With humor and grace, the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength.
Through this play and the liberation of the word ‘vagina’, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their bodies and their lives. For more than sixteen years, The Vagina Monologues has given voice to experiences and feelings not previously exposed in public.
With a script that has, for the most part, remained unchanged, the challenge is how to put on a different show every time. This year’s producing artistic director, Sarah Mae Enclona-Henderson has assembled a diverse cast of 20 women to bring the Monologues to life—Joan Saniel-Amit, Maxi Bolongaita, Laurie Boquiren, Cattski, Pami Estalilla, Bea Evardone, Chai Fonacier, Margo Frasco, Deborah Hayes, Candice Hintz, Gem Icamen, Gingging Navarro-Laude, Aleah Lim, Regal Oliva, Andrea Pateña, Stephanie Sitoy, Patty Taboada, Brazzy Valdez, Charlene Virlouvet and Jo-Ann Zaldumbide.
“With The Vagina Monologues being known more than ever as a successful, award-winning play, it is important to see that vagina monologues happen everyday,” says Enclona-Henderson, who first brought The Vagina Monologues to Cebu back in 2001. “The stories are real and both women and men need to hear them.”
This year’s production will be for the benefit of Bidlisiw Foundation, Inc., a local non-government organization focused on helping the urban poor families and supporting women’s causes.
