It’s All Business at the Oakridge Executive Club

The Oakridge Executive Club pioneers a new business lounge concept, offering guests comfort, convenience and class that are distinctly Oakridge.

It’s no secret that Cebu is fast-becoming a business hub. With buildings in an upward scramble to touch the skies, new establishments popping up in places where you’d least expect—and not to mention, the heavy traffic—this sunny island gets busier by the day.

While these are generally indicators of progress, there are some downsides, as well. What used to be a quick fifteen-minute drive from anywhere else in the city now takes twice the time if you’re lucky enough to avoid traffic. Either you’re late to your meeting, or it gets moved to a later time (and place) for the convenience of all parties.

In an answer to the growing need for the perfect meeting space, Cebu-based property developer Oakridge Realty Development launched the Oakridge Executive Club, the latest addition to Oakridge Business Park’s business and events facilities.

The entrance to the Oakridge Executive Club

“The reason why this was actually created was because we wanted to say thank you to our tenants and our loyal patrons, the people who have trusted us and supported us through the years,” says Edmun H. Liu, Oakridge Realty Development Corp.’s Chief Executive Officer.

Located on the 12th floor of Oakridge IT Center 2, the 1,800-square meter Oakridge Executive Club is a venue born of the company’s desire to honor loyal patrons who have made Oakridge Business Park their home.

“Since the plan was hatched more than twelve years ago to develop Oakridge Realty—that was once a factory—into something that is more attuned to the needs of the times, we’ve had a number of tenants who really believed in us and supported us,” he says.

These tenants, he shares, are people whom they want to give back something in return for supporting them.

“A lot of our tenants are young, aggressive, creative entrepreneurs. SMEs,” Edmun says. “I remember when we did a topping off of this, someone asked me what was our target market. A normal inclination is always BPOs, large BPOs, and that’s nice, there’s a market for that. But we should never forget the SMEs. A lot of them need offices as well and that’s what we did.”

The club’s spacious and classy interiors

“We were fortunate that they believed in us. But while they’re young and aggressive and dynamic, the unfortunate limitation that they have is resources so the office [space] may be limited,” he continues. “So when we were talking about it, the suggestion was to give them something that might help them grow their business. A meeting place, a place where they can bring their guests, customers.”

Here, executives of Oakridge locators, consisting of small to medium businesses, can conduct their meetings in comfort, convenience and class without leaving the casual elegance and ambience of Oakridge Business Park. Patrons will receive exclusive benefits and privileges as Oakridge Executive Club cardholders.

A highly-functional venue, visitors can stay connected, catching up on emails and meeting deadlines, while enjoying complimentary freshly-brewed coffee. The club also boasts an expansive, opulent lounge with a panoramic view of the city and the mountains.

The Maple Room, the club’s dining room

The Oakridge Executive Club has three meeting rooms; aptly named the Olive Room, Walnut Room, and Bamboo Room, each of these rooms accommodate 15-30 guests, and have a built-in LCD projector.

The 14-seat Executive Boardroom also comes with its own projector system, as well as the Smart TV, overhead speakers, private restroom, and a telephone and coffee station en suite.

For larger gatherings of up to 120 guests, the 240-square meter Mahogany Hall is ideal for business conventions, seminars and the like.

“Someone was asking me, ‘whose brainchild was this?’ It wasn’t any single person’s brainchild,” Edmun shares. “It’s actually a combination of the legacy of gratefulness that our founders have passed onto us. They [our parents] always emphasized that we should never forget to say thank you.”

While the Oakridge Executive Club was established to thank the tenants of Oakridge Business Park, Edmun divulges that it’s actually open to the public who are also keen on finding the perfect meeting space.

Guests may opt to dine at the Maple Room

Additionally, the club’s dining room, called the Maple Room, seats 60-70 guests. With a dedicated culinary staff, they serve a menu of gourmet dishes throughout the day, from full breakfasts to four-course dinners.

“Anybody can come here and book the place,” he says. “It’s not limited to just cardholders. Just that as cardholders, you get to enjoy certain privileges.”

In this case, the certain privileges he mentions are that cardholders get to come in for free and enjoy the amenities, and should they choose to partake in the meals available or avail of the boardrooms, they get to enjoy discounts.

Walk-in guests may also avail of the club’s services for only P1,000 consumable cover charge.

“The value that you get from our services is much greater than the price you pay,” Edmun shares good-naturedly.

The Oakridge Executive Club is located at the 12th Floor of Oakridge IT Center 2
Opens from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.

Arcy Gayatin: A Legacy of Luxury in Fabrication

By:  Allain Dumon Fonte

The brand Arcy Gayatin gave the Queen City of the South a distinct reputation in the fashion industry.  The fashion line of Arcy Gayatin sets the bar higher each year for clothing luxury and fabrication techniques.

Araceli “Arcy” Ancajas Gayatin is the daughter Galileo Ancajas and Remedios Zanoria Ancajas who founded Cebu’s home brand, Gal’s Bakery.  Arcy went to the University of San Carlos and studied Political Science.  And just like Dr. Muccia Prada, who completed her Ph.D. in Political Science and established the luxury line of Prada, Arcy also got in touch with her artistic side and started her own fashion line.  However, it was not Prada that influenced Arcy.  Arcy was introduced to fashion and tailoring at a very young age by her mother, Madame Remedios Anacajas whom they dearly call Mama Eme.  Mama Eme was running a tailoring business back then.  It was called Arabel; named after Arcy and her sister Belma.  Ara from Araceli and Bel from Belma.  In those years, Arcy was fascinated by fabrics and was intrigued by how to manipulate the fabrics to come up with fashion-forward designs without compromising comfort and taste.

After 37 years of creating haute couture pieces for the most fashionable personalities in the Philippines, Arcy Gayatin is now laying down her sketchpads and pens to rest.  As she enjoys her retirement, may be on a cruise to the Bahamas or a holiday to the Swiss Alps, Arcy Gayatin has left the fashion industry a legacy of elegant and edgy clothing ensembles that understand and define the shape of women; without compromising comfort and good taste.

To salute the lady who brought Cebu fashion to the world, a retrospective exhibition of Arcy’s incomparable masterpieces can be seen today at Ayala Center Cebu’s The Gallery; curated by fashion editor and writer, Clint Holton Potestas, and interior and fashion designer, Jul Oliva.

BALANCE.  Arcy Gayatin is known for her perfect symmetrical lines when fabricating.  She knows how to balance edginess and class; understanding well the strength and the finesse of a woman.

RHYTHM.  Arcy’s expertise in draping and fabric manipulation can be seen in how she achieves rhythm between architectural lines and soft fabrics like silk and cashmere.

TEXTURE.  With her thorough knowledge on fabrics, Arcy Gayatin has achieved the perfection of fabrication by working on different types of fabrics and creating a single piece of art out of them.

HARMONY.  The simplicity of the silhouette plus the intricacy of the details create a wonderful harmony, making Arcy Gayatin’s design a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

The photos below show an up-close look at the intricacy and the exquisite craftsmanship of Arcy Gayatin’s fabrication techniques:
